Liam Gallagher postpones wedding after insisting coronavirus wouldn't stop him

Liam Gallagher has postponed his wedding to longtime girlfriend Debbie Gwyther because he doesn't want to wear a face mask.

The former Oasis star, 47, had previously insisted that there was no way the coronavirus pandemic would stop his big day going ahead.

But he's had a change of heart after considering that they might have to wear face masks.

During an appearance on Zoe Ball's BBC Radio 2 show today, the presenter asked: "You were supposed to be getting married as well, are you still doing that or are you postponing it?"

Liam told her: "No that's been put back now until next year because I think we had to wear masks and stuff, and I'm not getting married with a mask on."

And Zoe agreed: "Oh no, that would just be daft, I think there are so many of our listeners having the same thing, put it back and do it properly when everybody can."

Back in March, Liam had insisted his wedding would be going ahead no matter what.

One fan had asked him on Twitter : "How’s the plans for the wedding? Hope that won’t be affected by it all too."

And Liam joked: "She ain’t getting of that lightly ha ha."

Another fan asked: "HOW'S the wedding planning going ???"

And the singer wrote back: "All good."

Zoe also asked Liam about his special gig for NHS workers, and if it would still be going ahead later this year.

Liam said: "Fingers crossed, man. Hopefully we can still do it in October, but we've just got to wait and see haven't we, man? Because it changes every week doesn't it?"

Liam also sent a message to a fan named Matthew who has been in hospital since March, and chatted about his new album, an MTV Unplugged album which he recorded in Hull last summer.

He said: "I remember Our Kid slagging Hull off and that, saying it's not a very nice place, so I jumped on the bandwagon and said 'No I love Hull, I'll do a gig there'. And we ended up doing a gig there just to make him look really bad.

"You know how it is.

"But saying that, the building was beautiful and the people of Hull are lovely and it turned out pretty nice."
