Liam Gallagher performs new acoustic song in Charlestown pub, references Noel's album Chasing Yesterday

Brothers in arms: Noel and Liam Gallagher (Getty Images)

The Gallagher brothers have been at each other’s throats for almost a decade now, taking not-so-subtle hits at each other in the press since before Oasis fell apart in 2009.

Recently, Noel admitted that forming the band with his “irritant” little brother was its downfall.

Liam seems to have taken his comments to heart, admitting on a brand new untitled song: “Yes, I know I’ve been wrong/ Didn’t do what I was told/I ain’t looking for no nine to five/ Sick of wasting all my precious time”.

The former frontman then seems to name check his older brother by referencing his latest album, Chasing Yesterday: “When I wake up and I hear you say/ There's no love worth Chasing Yesterday / Cause it’s alright / It’s alright now”.

Gallagher played the new song as part of an impromptu gig at JJ Finan’s pub in Charlestown, you can watch fan filmed footage below.

According to NME, Gallagher is believed to be on holiday in Charlestown with family. His mother originally came from the town and both the Gallagher brothers visit the area regularly to see family members.

In other Noel news, the High Flying Bird recently said Kanye West’s Glastonbury set was “as good as it gets” for half an hour, before losing interest in the show. Liam, on the other hand, said it was “utter s**t”.

The two also had differing opinions on One Direction, with Noel calling Zayn Malik a “f***ing idiot” to which Liam tweeted “Hey NG leave those 1D kids alone”.
