Liam Gallagher is Lewis Capaldi 'fan' after Scots star slags off brother Noel in Twitter 'spat'

Lewis Capaldi has a new fan...none other than Oasis legend LIAM Gallagher .

He unsurprisingly took the opposite position from estranged brother Noel when it comes the chart topping Scot.

Liam tweeted "I do now" when a fan asked "do you like Lewis Capaldi".

It's not surprising that Liam has taken the Scots singer's defence.

His life-long feud with brother Noel is infamous, and came to a head and the band split in 2009.

And it has continued to be played out on social media and the press, with Liam infamously suggesting "I'd rather eat my own s**t than be in a band with him again" in 2011.

The tongue in cheek row between Noel and Lewis started when Noel, 52, was being interviewed on Radio X on Saturday.

At one point Noel asks: "Who is this Capaldi fella? Who the f**k is that idiot?"

Scottish radio show host Gordon Smart responded: "I'm going to stand up for him, I think he's funny as f**k.

"He’s a good lad - you’d like him as well."

Noel then controversially accuses the host of only sticking up for the singer "because you're Scottish."

He then goes on to say: "You f****n' Scottish. If they found out Hitler was Scottish they’d go 'aw the wee man was just a wee bit misunderstood'.”

The to and fro continued when Lewis responded with a mocking video on Fathers' Day, saying: "Number 1 single? Who gives a f**k. Number 1 album? Who gives a f**k. I just got slagged off by Noel Gallagher. Dreams are coming true.

"It’s Father’s Day and I'm being slagged aff by a man who's old enough to be my da. And I’ve never been more happy. Happy Father's Day Noel."

The 'spat' was stoked further yesterday when Noel added a video to Twitter of his 11-year-old son Donovan singing snippets of Lewis' hit song 'Someone You Loved' then pretending to cry, saying: "You might wanna try and find some joy in your tunes you're destroying the youth... my 11-year-old is in bits."

Liam's comment today came in response to his hilarious Twitter post suggesting he's the man to sort out the UK's Brexit crisis.
