Liam Gallagher exhibition opens next to Manchester Christmas Markets and it's free to enter

An exclusive new Liam Gallagher photo exhibition has opened in Manchester - and it's free to enter for the next three weeks. The display of photos by filmmaker Charlie Lightening are from Liam's huge Knebworth gigs over the summer.

They include striking portraits of Liam at the huge gigs that saw the rock 'n' roll star return to the vast festival site for the first time since Oasis played their seminal gigs there back in 1996. The exhibition is all inside the Pretty Green fashion store, right next to the Manchester Christmas Markets on King Street.

It gives fans the chance to see exclusive behind the scenes images of the gigs, as well as capturing unique perspectives of fans who packed in to the Knebworth shows.

The exhibition was launched with a free party for fans on Tuesday night, which included a performance by rising Manc indie band Pastel, who played in one of the coveted support slots for Liam at his summer Knebworth gigs in July.

An array of Charlie Lightening's photos from the gig are now on display inside Pretty Green (Edward Jones)

Film-maker Charlie, who famously directed the Liam docufilm As It Was, was given unrivalled access backstage to his friend Liam's Knebworth return. Now his photographic work from the gig can also be seen by fans at the Pretty Green store for the rest of November and into December.

Charlie said: "It has been amazing to document Liam on this journey since leaving Oasis. We talked over the years about him playing Knebworth again on his own.

"To be there to capture history part 2 was such an incredible moment - the greatest rock 'n' roll comeback in history complete."

Charlie, originally from Sale, will also be selling off all of the limited frame prints at the end of the exhibition, when he plans to sign for fans too. Anyone interested in buying a portrait should keep an eye on Pretty Green's social media accounts for the sale date to be announced, likely to be around the weekend of December 17/18.

The exhibition features 60 photos from the Knebworth gigs. They are framed and on display around the first and second floors of the Pretty Green fashion store on King Street.

Store opening hours are from 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, and from 11am to 5pm on Sundays.
