Liam Gallagher delivers MTV EMA's shortest acceptance speech... probably

Liam Gallagher is probably the first to admit he’s mellowed a bit over the years.

And his acceptance speech at the MTV European Music Awards is perhaps proof he’s not quite the mouthy rock n roll star he once was.

The Oasis frontman demonstrated a succinct way of conversing after spending just 20 seconds saying his thank yous for becoming the recipient of the ceremony's first rock icon award.

Then he walked off stage.

Donning an oversized blue coat, Liam strolled on stage and took the award from singer Halsey before entering into what is likely to be in ceremony’s shortest speeches ever category.

He said: “Thank you, man. I won’t keep you too long.

"I wanna congratulate Seville for having a great city. I was here last year and it's mega.”

He may be slightly less mad fer it these days, but he’s still Liam Gallagher, and couldn’t resist throwing in a bit of swagger before exiting stage right.

“I want to congratulate MTV for recognising my brilliance,” he said.

“Thanks for the award, I'll wear it well. In a bit."

Do not worry, your favourite front man has not become stage shy all of a sudden - he later performed two songs - new track Once, and Oasis hit Wonderwall.

Elsewhere in the ceremony K-pop stars BTS won trophies for best live act and best fans.

Billie Eilish won best new artist, Little Mix scooped best UK act, best rock act went to Green Day, and Nicki Minaj won best hip hop.

But Ariana Grande fans were not happy after their idol walked away with nothing despite being nominated in seven categories.
