Liam Gallagher claims Man City star is worth £500m as Liverpool rivals close in on Jack Grealish transfer

Liverpool supporters are waiting to see just who their next big buy might be but with their Premier League title rivals Manchester City poised to smash their transfer record, lifelong fan Liam Gallagher has commented on the eye-watering sum his team could spend.

Although Liverpool got in first this summer with the recruitment of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig confirmed on May 28 after they met his £36million release clause, City looks set to blow that figure out of the water with the acquisition of Jack Grealish.

The 25-year-old Aston Villa captain could become the subject of the first nine-figure transfer in British football history if he seals a £100m move to the Etihad Stadium while Pep Guardiola has also been linked with a swoop for Tottenham Hotspur’s wantaway striker Harry Kane, who could command an even bigger fee.

Responding to the speculation, veteran rocker Liam Gallagher, 48, former lead singer of the group Oasis, took to social media to tell his three-and-a-half million Twitter followers : “100 f****** Million pounds.”

He quickly followed this up with a second tweet, claiming: “If that’s the case Foden must be worth 500 million +”, in reference to the home-grown English-born attacking midfielder that City already have on their books.
