Liam Gallagher has branded coronavirus a “f***ing c***” after the Everton vs Manchester City football match was cancelled.

Monday’s (28 December) Premier League game between Everton and Manchester City – which was due to kick off at 8.00pm at Goodison Park – was called off after further positive Covid-19 tests among City’s group.

The Premier League confirmed that “an increase in positive Covid-19 test results” at City has forced Monday’s game to be rearranged just hours before the scheduled evening start.

Manchester native and City fan Gallagher responded to the news on Twitter in a post reading: “The footy is off GUTTED you f***ing C*** of a virus be gone you f***ing s***.”

Fans of the Oasis musician supported the sentiment in the post’s comments. One user wrote: “Gutted, gonna be a long season.”

Others, however, took the opportunity to poke fun at Gallagher. One commented: “Would have lost anyway,” while another added: “Saved you a bank Holiday loss anyway Liam, should be happy.”

Responding to one commenter, who had written: “Probably for best Everton would have won anyway”, the 48-year-old replied: “We’d have gone 2nd you bumbaclart.”

Manchester City are currently sixth in the table with Everton third and Liverpool at the top.

Gallagher released his latest single, “All You’re Dreaming Of”, in November.
