Liam Delap confirms transfer to Man City in Instagram post

Man City have completed the signing of highly rated Derby County youngster Liam Delap, after he confirmed the move in an Instagram post.

City were first linked with the striker in early June and he has now announced that he has signed with the Blues as he posed for a picture in the new kit.

The post was accompanied with the caption: "Buzzing to have signed for Man City, thanks to everyone for the 10 years I spent at Derby. Can't wait for the new season."

The Championship side will be due compensation as Delap is only 16 and he will likely link up with the Elite Development Squad.

He is the son of Premier League folk hero Rory Delap, who was famed for his ridiculously long throws while at Stoke City.

Delap made headlines earlier this year after he impressed for England Under-16s at the Mercedes Benz Aegean Tournament in Turkey.

The youngster took home the Golden Boot after finishing top scorer in the tournament with four goals and was a part of Derby's title-winning under-18 side last season.
