Liam Burt responds to Rangers trolls amid Celtic exit rumours

Liam Burt has responded to the Rangers fans mocking him following his rumoured Celtic exit.

The former Ibrox youngster has reportedly left the Hoops on Thursday as the Scottish Sun claimed the Parkhead club declined the option of a second year on his deal.

But that was thrown into doubt after he appeared to be back at training on Friday as he shared a picture on his Instagram story at Lennoxtown.

Rangers fans were lapping up Burt's reported exit after he made the unpopular choice to cross the Old Firm divide last summer.

But the 21-year-old was able to see the funny side of it as he replied to a few supporters on Twitter.

One fan photoshopped him in a picture alongside Simon Ferry on his Open Goal podcast with the caption: "So wit wis it like getting 0 minutes wi your boyhood club, you must have stories eh?"

Burt replied: "Some of these are brilliant to be fair, some amount of effort has been put in them. Cheers, fair play."

Another supporter's tweet claimed to include the player's skills and goals for the 19/20 season but only had the Twitter logo attached.

Burt responded: "Brilliant, thankfully I get £9 every mention or tweet I’m included in so thanks to twitter for paying for my new Bentley."

The midfielder impressed for the Celtic youth side last season, scoring seven goals in 12 games, but has failed to break into the first team with the likes of Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor ahead of him.
