Liam Burt earns Celtic chance as former Rangers midfielder begins Hoops training stint

Liam Burt has earned the chance to win a contract with Celtic after starting a training stint with the Premiership champions.

The 20-year-old was released by Rangers earlier this summer but posted a less-than cryptic video on Friday of him arriving at Lennoxtown for training.

The midfielder's career stalled due to a host of injuries but he will get the chance to earn a deal with the Premiership champions, as he looks to impress Hoops boss Neil Lennon .

Burt was highly-rated by former boss Mark Warbuton but he didn't get a look in last season under Steven Gerrard. Burt has offers from other clubs, report the Scottish Sun .

Celtic have the likes of Scott Brown, Olivier Ntcham and Callum McGregor in the heart of the midfield. Academy star Kerr McInroy is also well thought of.

In May, Burt posted a farewell to Rangers on his Instagram but that post has now been removed from his social media page.

He said: "Sad to be leaving Rangers at the end of this season, I would like to say thanks to all the coaches and staff who have helped me throughout my time at Rangers.

"I have made some amazing memories and very proud to have made my professional debut with Rangers. I have met some amazing boys throughout my time and will be friends with them for a very long time. I can't wait to start a new chapter in my life and move on."
