Liam Burt Celtic transfer mystery as former Rangers midfielder spotted at Lennoxtown after Hoops 'release'

Liam Burt has been spotted at Lennoxtown after it was reported he was "released" by Celtic.

The Scottish Sun claimed Burt had left the Hoops on Thursday after the club declined the option of a second year on his deal.

But the former Rangers midfielder appeared to be back at training on Friday as he shared a picture to his Instagram story with Lennoxtown in the background.

The caption read: "Long time, no see."

The Celtic squad returned to small group sessions on Thursday after the Parkhead club were given the go-ahead to bring their players and staff back to work after acquiring a Covid-19 testing machine.

Burt made the the unpopular choice of crossing the Old Firm divide last August, signing a two-year deal with Celtic, after a disapponting spell at Ibrox.

The 21-year-old has impressed for the youth side, scoring seven goals in 12 games, but has failed to break into the first team with the likes of Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor ahead of him.
