Liam Buckley admits Sligo Rovers fans need something to smile about as they host Bohs in Showgrounds

Sligo Rovers host their first home league game in a month tonight with Liam Buckley admitting the fans deserve something to smile about.

The Bit O’Red are languishing towards the bottom of the table after back-to-back defeats to Derry City and Shamrock Rovers.

And they were also sent packing from the EA Sports Cup on Monday after going down 2-1 to Finn Harps in Ballybofey.

They face a Bohs side still riding high after an encouraging start and Buckley said: “It’ll be a difficult test but one we’re looking forward to.

“There’s no denying the last three results have been disappointing but we’re getting the squad back to where we want it in terms of fitness.

“It’s nearly a full month since our last home league game (a narrow win over UCD) and I know our supporters will come out in huge numbers once again.

“I’m confident it’s a test we can rise to and send our supporters home happy.”

Rovers midfielder John Russell requires a fitness test but goalkeeper Ed McGinty remains out with a broken finger.

Scott Allardice is a doubt for Bohs after suffering a facial injury in the EA Sports Cup win over Cabinteely while Cristian Magerusan (cruciate) is out long-term.
