Liam Boyce's Hearts scoring form earns him PFA Championship Player of the Year but Hibs kid Josh Doig misses out

Hearts striker Liam Boyce has been named the PFA Scotland Championship Player of the Year by his fellow pros.

The Northern Ireland frontman contributed greatly to Robbie Neilson's title push.

He finished the promotion campaign with 14 goals despite the season being squeezed to 27 games, putting the 30-year-old well clear as the league's top scorer.

Boyce also notched six assists, one behind the league best of seven.

Boyce's Jambos team-mate Craig Gordon was also nominated for the award, with Dundee's Charlie Adam and Regan Hendry of Raith Rovers completing the four-man shortlist.

Hibs youngster Josh Doig meanwhile missed out on the PFA's Young Player of the Year.

He was nominated alongside Rangers' Nathan Patterson and St Johnstone's Ali McCann but it was David Turnbull of Celtic who scooped the honour for 2020-21 after his breakout season at Parkhead.

Doig also missed out on the Scottish Football Writers' equivalent earlier this month.

Rangers duo Steven Gerrard and James Tavernier won Manager and Player of the Year while there were no awards for Leagues One and Two given the stop-start nature of their campaign.
