Liam Boyce agrees Hearts move as Daniel Stendel beats off Aberdeen competition for hitman

Hearts have completed the signing of Liam Boyce and the striker will go straight into the squad to face Rangers on Sunday.

The forward signs a three-and-a-half year deal after agreeing personal terms on a move from English League One outfit Burton Albion.

It's understood Hearts beat off competition from Aberdeen to seal the signature of the Northern Ireland international, with a fee of £150k agreed between the clubs.

The 28-year-old had just six months left of his deal at Burton Albion and they were looking to recoup some of the £500k they paid Ross County to sign him in 2017.

Sunderland were also interested in the attacker with boss Phil Parkinson admitting that they wanted to take him to the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats ended up signing former Tynecastle forward Kyle Lafferty.

Parkinson said: “Liam, is a player who I’ve known for a while and we’ve watched him recently.

“With Lafferty coming in, and Charlie (Wyke) and Griggy (Will Grigg) at the top end of the pitch, to bring another one would I think be one too many.”

He becomes the latest addition to Daniel Stendel's squad after Kosovan international forward Donis Avdijaj agreed a move earlier this week.

Record Sport also exclusively revealed on Friday morning that Barnsley defender Toby Sibbick was set to sign on loan until the end of the season.

Stendel’s clearout of the Jambos squad has seen seven players exit this month while skipper Christophe Berra has been told to find a new club.

Craig Wighton joined Arbroath on loan. Glenn Whelan has been released while Olly Lee has moved to Gillingham on loan, Aidan Keena has joined Hartlepool United, Kevin Silva has gone to Toronto FC as has Jake Mulraney with Atlanta United and Rory Currie has joined Linfield on loan.
