The name Liam has held on to its title as the most popular baby name for boys in the United States for the third year in a row, according to a new report.

This week, the Social Security Administration revealed its list of the most-popular baby names for 2019 - and they look quite similar to the previous year’s.

According to the annual list, the most-popular names for boys and girls are Liam and Olivia, respectively.

While Liam has been in the top spot for a few years now, this marks the first year that Olivia has managed to overtake Emma as the name most commonly chosen by new parents.

Interestingly, data released recently by the Office for National Statistics  found Olivia was equally favoured in England and Wales, where it was also revealed to be the most-popular baby girl name.

Following Liam, parents of newborn baby boys frequently opted for the names Noah, Oliver, William and Elijah, while James, Lucas and Mason also made it to the top 10.

For girls, the four names rounding out the top five most-popular names of 2019 include: Emma, Ava, Sophia and Isabella.

The popular monikers are likely here to stay as well, as data from the Social Security Administration reveals that Noah, Liam, Emma, and Olivia are actually the most popular names of the decade.

According to the report, there have been 182,896 babies named Liam in the 2010s and 194,667 babies named Emma.

If you’re looking for a more unique baby name for your future child, you may want to consider Rowan for a boy or Izabella for a girl, which the agency reports are ranked in 100th place for popularity over the last decade.
