LFC fan 'nearly in tears' after getting call from club over ticket issue

An LFC fan who hasn't been home to Liverpool since the start of the pandemic was left close to tears after receiving a call from the club.

Jacqui De La Maziere and her partner Andie were "absolutely over the moon" when they received an email earlier this week to say they had been entered into the ticket ballot for Liverpool's first home game of the season at Anfield on August 21.

Jacqui, who is a veteran, and has PTSD and autism, said she was allocated two ambulant disability tickets for the ballot - one for herself and one for her partner, who is classed as her personal assistant.

The couple soon booked their train tickets to travel to Liverpool from their home in Northumberland in anticipation and a hotel for their stay.

But when she went to purchase the tickets on Wednesday, Jacqui said she encountered a problem with the booking system which meant she was unable to buy them.

Jacqui, who's originally from Anfield, told the ECHO: "I logged in at the time it said but it would only allow me to buy one ticket.

"I selected the right tickets but it wouldn't let me check out for a pa ticket."

"I spent an hour on the disability phone line and got no answer.

"I spent another hour on live chat and was told it would be escalated to management and someone would contact me today."

Jacqui said she was left feeling heartbroken at the thought of not getting tickets to the match, so she was nearly in tears when she got a call from LFC on Thursday to say they had resolved the issue for her.

Jacqui claims she was told that the problem had occurred because of an error with the booking system - and she fears many others may have been affected as a result.

However, after securing two tickets in the kop, she is now excited to return home to Liverpool for the first time in two years.

Jacqui said: "We haven't been home for two years.

"You know what, it's the first game of the season and I know there's going to be a mosaic on the kop for the 97 fans that died at Hillsborough.

"I know there's going to be a minutes silence, there's going to be lots of emotion, people haven't been to a home game for so long.

"It's going to be really really emotional and to be part of that after being stuck up here for two years I can't believe my luck. When I got off the phone I nearly cried."

The ECHO has approached LFC for comment.
