A man has admitted trying to stab four people in an unprovoked attack in front of shocked commuters at a London tube station.
But Muhaydin Mire, 30, denied trying to murder another man in his fifties during the attack at Leytonstone Underground station on 5 December last year.
Mire, who appeared via videolink at the Old Bailey, pleaded guilty to four other counts of attempted wounding.
Wearing a blue jumper and grey tracksuit bottoms, he stared straight ahead during the hearing. Appearing before the recorder of London, Mire spoke only to confirm his name and give his plea to each of the five charges.
He is due to stand trial on the attempted murder charge on 31 May at the Old Bailey. It is expected to last two weeks.
Much of the incident was captured on mobile phone footage, which circulated widely on social media.
The victim has not been named but is in his mid-fifties. He underwent five hours of surgery after the attack.
The defendant was Tasered by police.
