Leytonstone: Man’s hand severely slashed during violent phone robbery as he walked home

A 30-year-old man was violently attacked as he walked home in east London, the Met Police has said.

On October 1, 2022, the victim was walking home while using his mobile in Leytonstone. As he walked under the Green Man Roundabout, he was attacked from behind.

The victim’s hand was slashed and his phone was stolen following the incident. The wound on his hand was so severe that the victim required plastic surgery after the cut damaged the tendons.

The attacker is described as a white male, with dark curly hair and of an athletic build.

Detective constable Aaron Barnes-Weston, of the North East Command Unit, said: "As a result of this incident a man, who was only walking home, has been attacked and robbed.

“The injuries to his hand were so significant and so deep they cut his tendons. We need to find the person responsible and I am asking the public to help.”

Witnesses can call 101 or contact them on Twitter via @MetCC. Please quote CAD 2453/12JAN
