Leyton stabbing: Man charged with attempted murder after police officer seriously injured

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a police officer was stabbed in east London.

The officer, 28, was seriously injured in the assault in Leyton at about midnight on Thursday.

Muhammed Rodwan, 56, was on the same day charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

The suspect, of Villiers Close, Luton, is due to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning.

The officer remained in hospital and his condition is now being described as serious but stable.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

His family have been informed.
