Leyton Orient part company with Carl Fletcher just 29 days after taking over at Brisbane Road

Carl Fletcher has been sacked as manager of Leyton Orient after just 29 days and five matches in charge.

Following a period under the interim leadership of Ross Embleton, the ex-Wales international was only named as the permanent successor to the late Justin Edinburgh at Brisbane Road on October 16.

Fletcher initially watched from the stands as League Two Orient thrashed Grimsby last month, but made the worst possible start in his first game at the helm - a 4-0 drubbing by former club Plymouth.

Orient were also held by Carlisle and lost to struggling Morecambe before being knocked out of the FA Cup first round by eighth-tier Maldon & Tiptree last weekend.

"It’s unfortunate for the club that we have parted company with Carl after such a short time, particularly as we are a club that tries to preserve stability," O's chairman Nigel Travis said in a statement.

“However, we felt this was in the best interests of all parties and we thank him for his hard work and wish him every success in the future.”

Orient confirmed that their former temporary leadership team comprised of Embleton, first-team development coach Danny Webb and captain/coach Jobi McAnuff will once again now take control of first-team affairs.
