Lexii Alijai's poignant final post as rapper urged friends to stay safe on New Year's Eve

Rapper Lexii Alijai urged her friends and fans to look after themselves in her final poignant social media post before her shock death.

The musician - real name Alexis Alijai Lynch - died on January 1 2020 at the age of 21.

Friends and family confirmed the tragic news, but Lexii's cause of death is yet to be releashed by police and the local coroner's office.

The rapper, who teamed up with American singer-songwriter Kehlani for her first mixtape You Should Be Here, had appeared to foresee her death in a haunting last Facebook message.

She had shared one of her old statuses through the Facebook Memories function, which read: "Stayin in the crib as usual on New Years... Iont do parties. I hope everyone has fun, be safe!"

The original message, written on January 1 2014, had been re-shared and Lexii had added a praying hands emoji to it.

Shocked fans couldn't believe she had died just hours after the post, with one writing underneath: "Is this fr??? I hope you're okay."

Another said: "I'm so broke my girl! I'm in shoCk this can't be real please tell me this ain't true! I love u my girl!"

And a third wrote: "Rip lexii my heart hurting fr for you boo! Hopefully your in peace now with the angels."

Kehlani, who had featured Lexii's vocals on her track Jealous, was among the first to pay tribute.

The star, who has 1.3 million followers, wrote on Twitter : "Jus got the worst f****n news ever. my heart is BROKE. F**K.

"Weakest saddest way to start a new year i'm off this happy new year please please please please be safe out here love on your people please.

"It's hard to have so much faith in god and that everything happen for a reason cuz it's s**t i can't imagine there ever being a reason for why bro," she tweeted.

Lexii's cousin Raeisah Clark also shared the tragic news on Facebook.

"You're a real legend. If you know or heard her music you'd feel chills. Rest in paradise you'll never be forgotten!" she wrote.

"I’m so lost for words…my beautiful cousin with so much talent & Unique soul Lexii Alijai It's too soon.”
