Lewisham shooting victim linked to secret Sydney fight club

A person with a head injury is placed into one of several ambulances on Friday.

A man injured in the double shooting in Lewisham in Sydney's inner west on Friday afternoon has links to a secret fight club that was once under scrutiny in a murder investigation.

Albert Difloriano, 55, is being treated at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

He was found with a gunshot wound to the head in a home on Victoria Street, near where another man, Alexander Stefanovich, was shot and killed on Henry Street.

"How the men sustained their injuries remains under investigation," a police spokesperson said.

Mr Difloriano is believed to be one of the founders of the Saint Michael Christian Brothers Fight Club, in the inner west.

The club previously came under scrutiny during a murder investigation relating to another of its alleged members.

The double shootings in Sydney on Friday afternoon triggered a huge police presence, including a helicopter and riot squad officers.

Officers were still at the scene as part of continuing investigations on Saturday.

Police said the two men were known to each other.

A woman at the scene on Victoria Street on Friday was taken away by police but is not considered a person of interest.

NSW has seen at least 30 shootings in public places in the past five weeks.
