Lewis Patterson ready to 'prove myself' after returning to Crusaders

Lewis Patterson insists he is ready to "prove myself" to Stephen Baxter after returning to Crusaders.

Patterson has agreed a two-year deal with the Shore Road club.

The 18-year-old defender left Crusaders for Fleetwood Town two years ago but is now back at Seaview.

And the teenager insists he can't wait to get started once again with the North Belfast club.

"I am glad to be here. It's a great set up and I am just delighted to be back," Patterson told Crusaders' website.

"My contract at Fleetwood expired and I came back to train with the reserves because I know the manager.

"One thing led to another and here I am. I need to prove myself in training and if the gaffer thinks I am good enough hopefully he will put me in."

Crusaders said on their social media: "The 18-year-old left Crusaders two years ago to play for Fleetwood Town and when his contract finished Stephen Baxter was quick to snap up a player who has everything it takes to be part of Crusaders plans over the next few years and beyond.

"Lewis was a product of the Crusaders and Greenisland FC link up as part of the player/coach partnership and after impressing in the Super Cup moved to Fleetwood on a scholarship."

They added: "Welcome back Lewis and we look forward to seeing you in the famous colours when the season starts. Again CruesTV will catch up with both Lewis and Stephen during pre season."
