Lewis Morgan to link up with David Beckham as former St Mirren star agrees to join Inter Miami

Former St Mirren star Lewis Morgan is heading Stateside after agreeing a deal with David Beckham’s Inter Miami.

The Major League Soccer new boys have agreed a six-figure deal with Celtic for the talented winger.

The 23-year-old has been offered a lucrative, long-term contract to star on American soil.

Talks have progressed well and Morgan is impressed with Inter Miami’s ambition. He will now undergo a visa application.

After loan spells at St Mirren and Sunderland, Morgan made it clear that if he was to leave Celtic then it would have to be on a permanent basis.

Celtic paid Saints around £250,000 for Morgan in 2018 and he has found it hard to get a run of games at Parkhead.

Now he looks set for a new challenge across the pond to join fellow Scottish internationalists Gary Mackay-Steven, who is at New York City, and Johnny Russell who plays for Sporting Kansas City.

Saints are expected to receive a percentage of Morgan’s transfer fee due to a sell-on clause included in his Celtic contract.
