Lewis Morgan receives late Scotland call-up as Celtic winger is added for San Marino clash

Celtic winger Lewis Morgan has received a late call-up for Scotland's clash with San Marino - despite playing just one game of football since August.

Morgan's only appearance for Celtic in the last six months was in the League Cup thumping of Partick Thistle but he's been called in to replace Robert Snodgrass who has pulled out with a knock.

Confirmation of the call-up came just over three hours before kick-off at Hampden but Morgan could now be thrust into the action.

Morgan has made 11 appearances for Neil Lennon's side this season but 10 of those came before August and he grabbed one goal in the 4-1 win over AIK Stockholm in the Europa League.

He hasn't made an appearance for Scotland since winning his first two caps in an end of season tour of the Americas in 2018 when he played against Peru and Mexico.

He was named in Steve Clarke's squad for his first matches in charge against Cyprus and Belgium but never made it off the bench in either of those.

Snodgrass started the 4-0 defeat to Russia in midweek with Ryan Fraser and James Forrest the only other natural wingers in the squad while Johnny Russell and Oliver Burke can also play in those areas.
