Sir Lewis Hamilton was officially knighted at Windsor Castle on Wednesday in a ceremony performed by Prince Charles.
The Formula One star joins a host of other drivers - Sir Jack Brabham, Sir Stirling Moss and Sir Jackie Stewart - in receiving the honour.
The 36-year-old was joined by his mother, Carmen Lockhart, for the ceremony, and later posed for pictures in the castle's quadrangle - but opted not to speak with reporters.
Sir Lewis was included in the New Year Honours list after breaking the Formula One world record of race wins held by Micheal Schumacher, while also equalling the racing legend’s seventh world title in 2020.

On Sunday, Hamilton was well on his way to clinching an eighth title, but the battle came to a disappointing end for the Mercedes man when a late decision by stewards during a safety car period meant he lost a controversial one-lap race to the finish in Abu Dhabi to Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
Although he decided to avoid all questions on the day of the event, Hamilton has in the past praised the royal family on a number of occasions.
One such time came after Meghan Markle’s nuptials to Prince Harry when he said it was “the greatest wedding I've ever seen”
In 2018, after the ceremony, Hamilton praised the Duchess and said he enjoyed every moment of the occasion.
"I watched here at the weekend just with a smile on my face the whole time,” he said.

"It was great to see such a positive change. It was great to see how happy they both were. It was just a really proud day for the world and it's always great to see positivity and change.
"The fact you do have diversity in the Royal Family today is a huge thing, people probably don't realise how important that is. Even to see at the church you had a mixture with the ministers, in the music, in the choir, it was just really beautiful to see.
"So I just had the greatest weekend ever just sitting there watching, seeing talented people play music and seeing them speak and then just to see this power couple walk out.
"It was the greatest wedding I've ever seen - and I'm not big on weddings at all, I avoid them at all costs. But this was one, I wish I was actually in England to have seen it.
"Plus, England on a sunny day is just so beautiful with the castle and everything. It was pretty much a fairytale that every kid and adult today that's particularly not married dreams of having that kind of weekend."
