Lewis Hamilton is hopelessly addicted to Game of Thrones, just like you

Reigning Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton is currently spending all of his free time in Baku ahead of this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix binge-watching Game of Thrones. Hamilton admitted in an Instagram story Friday morning that he spends his days counting the minutes until he can relax with a few episodes.

“Guys, I think I’m ill. I’m so addicted to Game of Thrones. It’s now like I can’t wait for my day to finish so I can go home and watch it before I go to bed. It’s changed my life. It’s the greatest thing ever. To all the cast and all crew that made Game of Thrones…. I just want to say a big thank you. Appreciate you guys.”

According to ESPN, the Mercedes driver restarted the entire series from season one earlier this year, and is trying to rewatch every episode before what should be an epic season eight finale.

Hamilton didn’t make it out onto the track in Baku Friday morning in the first practice session of the week, which had to be cancelled after a drain cover destroyed George Russell’s car. The Ferrari of Charles Leclerc drove over the cover and knocked it loose earlier in the session, and Russell drove directly over it, causing massive damage.

To make matters worse, the truck that hauled Russell’s car back to the pits struck the underside of a bridge, causing fluid to leak onto the engine cover of the car.

Hamilton joked that the delay gave him some free time to stream Game of Thrones.
