Lewis Hamilton could face prison time if he flouts strict coronavirus rules ahead of next weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.
The Hungarian government have introduced severe lockdown restrictions upon British citizens who enter their country, mainly due to images of overcrowded beaches and pubs opening in England.
Formula 1 bosses have sent around a note to teams warning them of the rules for UK and non-EU citizens ahead of the third round of the Championship, which include only leaving either the Hungaroring or accommodation for travel.
Hamilton is the most high profile driver who could be caught up in the law, although McLaren's Lando Norris, Williams' George Russell and many mechanics and other team members will also need to be careful.
"Attendees of UK or other non-EU or EEA nationality should not leave the venue or their accommodation for any reason, other than for travel between the two locations and for their pre-arranged arrival and departure to and from Hungary," said the note, as reported by Autosport.
"Attendees of UK or other non-EU or EEA nationality may not use public transport and taxis.
"Any meals should be taken at either the venue or the accommodation, and any free time should be spent within the boundaries of the accommodation.
"Failure to adhere to these additional restrictions will be punishable by the Hungarian authorities and may result in imprisonment and/or fines of up to approximately 15,000 Euros."
The warning comes after Charles Leclerc was handed an official warning for breaking coronavirus protocols between the two races in Austria.
The Ferrari driver returned to his home in Monaco and was pictured with friends.
Leclerc said: "I did [go] back home. On the other hand, I've been tested twice before coming back. So in two days, testing twice, both negative obviously. That's it."
Hamilton's team-mate Valtteri Bottas also returned to the principality but stayed in his 'bubble'.
"Obviously I found out if it's allowed, to go back, and yes, it is," said Bottas. "And of course it doesn't really make a difference if I stay with the same people in the same bubble whether I'm here or back home in Monaco.
"So I decided to go back home as, in the end, we are in Europe and travelling is pretty short distance so there's no stress really from the travel.
"I just wanted to spend those three full days at home. I thought it was very nice to recharge for the weekend, so I think it was a good decision from my side. I just tend to do things that what works for me, how I feel, what I want to do between the races.
"From a safety point of view there is no difference at all. Still the same people that I will be dealing with here."
