Lewis Grabban reveals key to his goal as Nottingham Forest beat Derby County

Lewis Grabban felt Nottingham Forest were deserving 1-0 winners against Derby County as he revealed the secret to his winning goal.

The Reds' top scorer hit his seventh goal of the season early in the second half when he fired past Kelle Roos first time after latching on to Jayden Bogle's error.

After the game Grabban said he was expecting Derby to have more of the ball as he looked to take his chance when it came, before discussing the key to finding  the back of the net.

"It was a good result. The main thing was the win for the fans as well, so we're very happy," he said.

"Personally, I enjoy those games. It's nice and competitive and the fans are on their game as well.

"We were well worth the win. We played with patience and when we got the chance we put it away.

"We knew before the game they might have a bit of the ball so we just had to wait and be ready for when you do get a chance.

"I had a little glance at the keeper and it looked like he hadn't covered the near post properly, so I aimed for that and fortunately it went in.

"Before the game we'd have taken a 1-0. We defended well, but it does get a bit nerve wracking when you're up the other end.

The striker also reserved praise for the sold-out City Ground crowd, who helped roar Forest on in the closing stages when nerves were being tested.

"They make a difference. It shows that they're up for it and gives us that little bit extra.

"We've turned the tables a little bit after a few years of Derby being on top, so it's nice to be winning."

Forest go into the latest international break in the Championship top six on the back of consecutive wins.

Grabban admits it would be nice to have another game next weekend, but he will make the most of the chance to rest up before facing Bristol City on November 23.

"It's nice to get the break. After this it's going to be a long, long time before we get another one," he said.

"We've had two wins so we'd have liked to play a bit more perhaps, but we'll take the break.

"We're in a good position. We'll try to stay in the top six and see where it takes us."
