Lewis Ferguson responds to Rangers transfer rumours as midfielder sets out Aberdeen silverware aim

Lewis Ferguson admits he is flattered to be linked with Rangers but insists he doesn’t need to move to Ibrox to win trophies.

The Aberdeen midfielder, who was speaking as he was named the Scottish Football Writers’ Association’s young player of the year, is being tracked by English Championship side Brentford and has also been linked with summer interest from Steven Gerrard’s side.

But Ferguson said: “I’ve just seen it (Rangers’ link) the same way as everybody else.

“I’m not really aware of anything like that. I don’t read too much into that.

“I’ve obviously been shown it on social media and stuff. I just take it in my stride. I’m just focused on getting back training for Aberdeen.”

The former Hamilton star also knows the Pittodrie outfit are going in the right direction with their Cormack Park facility and chairman Dave Cormack at the helm.

The Dons favourite said: “We have a chairman who loves the club and knows what he is doing.

“The full squad, chairman and the manager, we are all striving to win trophies and that is my aim as well.

“The past couple of seasons at Aberdeen I’ve wanted to achieve things and get trophies. Nothing’s changed.

“This season the aim is to try to get silverware.”
