Ian McCall has floated the suggestion that Nico Raskin may be used in a swap deal plus cash to land Lewis Ferguson at Rangers.
Raskin's future at Ibrox continues to be speculated upon with the Belgian currently playing with his country at the World Cup. His price tag is expected to increase further given he is also contracted at Gers until 2028.
The midfielder, 25, has a number of clubs keeping a close eye on his situation and Rangers could potentially look to cash-in this summer with his valuation at its peak.
McCall believes Raskin could well be a transfer target for Bologna in Serie A and, if so, the idea of a swap would suit Gers well considering they would also be due a few quid as part of any deal.
"I'm tipping a deal done, Jonathan, and I've not heard, this is not inside information. But I'm tipping a deal done between Rangers and Bologna with a swap for Raskin and Ferguson," the former Ayr United boss said on the Scottish Football Podcast.
"It'll be obviously a bit of money there as well. I think Raskin will go to Bologna and Ferguson will go to Rangers. This is a total hunch, no exclusive."
Asked which club would be due the money, McCall added: "I think Raskin is worth more than Ferguson, he's potentially top notch in my opinion."
