Lewis Ferguson breaks silence on Aberdeen fan bust up as he admits 'I politely told him to F off'

Lewis Ferguson has insisted his angry Scottish Cup bust-up with an Aberdeen fan was sparked by sheer frustration.

The Dons star was seen on social media telling a Dons supporter to f*** off in an ugly clash as they lost at Motherwell and had to trudge back up the away stand to get back to the dressing room.

That Fir Park match proved to be the end of Stephen Glass’s Pittodrie tenure.

Ferguson was booed by a small element of fans in the next home game against St Johnstone but silenced them with his penalty equaliser.

The midfielder, 22, knows his side haven’t hit the heights they should have and it is time to start putting that right, starting against Dundee United this afternoon.

Ferguson said: “It was just emotion from both sides. We were upset as well and they were upset.

“It was difficult, we lost the game, we were out of the cup and emotions were high. They were having a go at us – it was nothing really. A guy jumped the barrier and I politely told him to F off.

“I forgot about it straight away and I just wanted to get back into training and to get back down there the next week.

“It was a bit of a raw emotion from both sides after the game. It is never the best time to show your emotions but it is hard because you want to win.

“Everybody has their own way about going about things. There are people in the team who care but they will just bite their tongue and not do anything.

“I care as much as anybody but it was the heat of the moment and a bit of emotion and that was it for me.”

Today will allow Pittodrie to pay tribute to their greatest ever gaffer – Sir Alex Ferguson – and allow them to say hello to a new one in Jim Goodwin.

Ferguson said: “With the new gaffer coming in there is a bit of excitement about the place.

“With a sell-out crowd and Sir Alex Ferguson there you couldn’t set it up for a better day.

“It should give us that extra bit of motivation.”
