Lewis Dobbin explains Everton's message ahead of Derby County loan switch

Lewis Dobbin has explained Everton's message to him before completing the first loan move of his career to Derby County.

The forward has enjoyed a solid start to his spell with the East Midlands club, already racking up six appearances in all competitions for his new side after confirming his temporary switch earlier in the summer. Most recently, that saw the 19-year-old bag his first assist for his new side as they beat West Bromwich Albion 1-0 in the second round of the League Cup.

The Blues will no doubt be keeping a close eye on the teenager throughout the campaign as he continues his development with his temporary side. However, Dobbin revealed that there was no set plan in place for his loan other than generally proving what he can do at a senior level.

He told Derby County's official website : "We don't really get given set goals. It's more a case of going there, show what you're capable of, and earn your spot when you're back. That's the aim.

"I just want to improve, learn and gain experience from it. I couldn't have asked for a better bunch of lads, they've made me feel so welcome and it's got a real family feel to it.

"I'm already comfortable and just ready to win games. I've quickly become a part of the squad and feel a part of the squad, so it's really good."

Dobbin is now focused on getting as many minutes under his belt as possible, and believes the style of play promoted at Derby will be of benefit both to him and for the team as a whole in the future.

He added: "I think with me not having the biggest of pre-seasons, not getting the minutes I wanted, I'm getting sharper each game and getting a feel for it. I'm feeling good.

"Obviously I need to get my end product up so getting them stats [assist] is a good personal goal for me to get.

"Having the more minutes the better really. We've got a big squad and a very good squad, the depth is good and I don't think it's really something we have to worry about.

"It's really good having to play out from the back and keep the ball. It's a good, positive way of playing.

"The more we play with that in the season the better we're going to get at it and the more we'll punish teams. We're playing really well, once it clicks we'll get into gear and from there we'll be hard to stop I think."
