Lewis Crocker reveals inspiration behind his trademark left hook

Knockout artist Lewis Crocker has revealed he got some early inspiration for his trademark left hook from a computer game he played as a kid.

The South Belfast welterweight has become renowned for his explosive power inside the ring.

Crocker has stopped six of his seven opponents in the professional ranks, with only William Warburton hearing the last bell against the 22-year-old.

That came in Crocker's last fight way back in August, but he has promised to return to his knockout ways tonight at the Ulster Hall when he takes on Jumanne Camero.

"It is important to impress, especially with the platform now with ESPN," Crocker said.

"I have never fought at the Ulster Hall, so fighting in front of that crowd will be special and you want to impress.

"I think people are just born with power, but the more you work on it, the better it gets.

"My opponent is tough. But at the end of the day a fight is a fight. We both have two arms, but I will be the better man on Friday. And I will get the win, hopefully by knockout.

"Actually, it will be by knockout."

Far from being a one-tricky pony, Crocker has gained a fearsome reputation because of his left hook.

When asked about the shot that has earned him some early fame, Crocker revealed he got some inspiration from a computer game he played years ago.

"I used to play the Fight Night game when I was younger," he said.

"There was a guy called Left Hook Lacy, and I remember thinking it would be class to have your name like that.

"It is just something that always stuck in my head."
