Lewis Crocker believes change of scenery will reap reward as he prepares for October return

Lewis Crocker believes a change of scenery will reap reward as the Belfast boxer prepares for a new start in the pro game.

Crocker recently split with trainers Ray and Mark Ginley despite easing to an impressive record of 9-0 in the paid ranks.

The 22-year-old has now taken up residency with Gerard McManus and Dan Anderson at Gleann ABC, and he hopes his stock continues to rise as he looks to the future.

"It just felt like the right thing to do at this stage of my career," Crocker told Belfast Live Sport.

"Me, Ray and Mark left on good terms, there is no bad blood or anything like that.

"I believe I am now in the right environment to take my boxing forward. I am working with the likes of Paddy Gallagher, Conrad Cummings and Steven Donnelly. I am getting some great sparring.

"It is the right environment for me, and I believe training alongside other fighters such as those three will really bring me on.

"I have known Dan and Gerard for some time now, so I feel like I am in a good place right now."

Crocker is back in training ahead of his next ring appearance on October 11.

'The Croc' has been added to the forthcoming MTK Global bill at the Ulster Hall which will also feature Paddy Barnes and Sean McComb.

"I remember on my first day back training and thinking, 'f**k, this is hard'," Crocker joked.

"But that's what I want. I need to be pushed and tested.

"I feel highly motivated now and I believe this is like a fresh start. We aren't going to reinvent the wheel as far as my boxing goes. I am not going to change my style.

"It is just about hard work and maybe refining a few things here and there.

"I feel there are some big nights ahead if I apply myself properly and focus on my boxing."
