Lewis Capaldi fans were delighted with the musician’s reaction to being mentioned on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? yesterday (8 September).

For the question worth £32,000, contestant Clea Rawinsky was asked: “Who recorded the UK No 1 album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent?”

The correct answer was Capaldi himself, while other multiple choice options were Robbie Williams, Billie Eilish and Stormzy.

With no idea of the answer, the contestant ended up using two “phone a friend” lifelines, but neither contact was able to identify the artist.

After narrowing down the answers to two possibilities, Rawinsky admitted she didn’t know who Capaldi even was.

Though she ended up choosing the right answer, it was clear to everyone watching that it was a guess.

Capaldi saw the funny side, and posted a string of tweets which included the four-second clip of Rawinsky saying: “I don’t even know who Lewis Capaldi is.”

In one, he captioned the video: “Me when I'm hungover and haven't showered on a flight and someone asks if I am who they think I am.”

Another read: "Me looking at myself in the mirror having an existential crisis after a weekend on the booze."

He also joked that there would be “‘I don’t even know who Lewis Capaldi is’ merch” arriving in the next few days, and changed his Twitter name to the full quote.
