It's fair to say 2019 has been pretty good to Lewis Capaldi.
The 23-year-old from West Lothian started the year by launching Someone You Loved, the single which would transform him into a global superstar.
In May he released his debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, which topped the album charts for six weeks.
He became "America's Sweetheart" as his single topped the US charts during his tour there, and recently played an epic show in Edinburgh.
It has now been confirmed that Lewis was the biggest-selling British artist of 2019, as well as releasing the most-streamed track of the year.
Someone You Loved was played over 228 million times on audio streaming services.
The BBC reports official figures from trade body BPI which show Lewis beat off competition from Ed Sheeran and the Greatest Showman cast.
Lewis posted on Instagram on Wednesday morning, wishing his followers a happy New Year.
Speaking from his bed, he urged fans to download his new single, Before You Go, to "start the decade off right."
