Lewis Capaldi sends heartfelt thanks to NHS staff on International Nurses Day

Lewis Capaldi has sent a heartfelt celebration message to Scots nurses as they fight the coronavirus.

In honour of International Nurses Day, the Someone You Loved singer recorded a video thank you message to the dedicated staff at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

In the broadcast, Lewis, who has a connection to the team, said: "Hello to all the Regional Services nurses, it's Lewis Capaldi here and I just wanted to say Happy International Nurses' Day.

"Thanks very much for all the work you do and hope you have a good day!"

Lead Nurse, Lynsay Creighton, received this message as a surprise for all of the regional services nursing staff.

She said: "Due to the lockdown, we are not able to have the big party that was initially planned, however, this message is sure to boost morale. I mean, who doesn't love Lewis Capaldi?"

There are events planned throughout NHSGGC to mark the day, including videos, displays of nurse portraits and virtual celebrations.

Yesterday superstar Lewis made the announcement that he would be welcoming fans to his West Lothian home for an intimate virtual gig.

The concert is due to be streamed on his Facebook page at 12 UK time.
