Lewis Capaldi's Brits winners speech muted leaving viewers wondering why

It should have been a real moment in the career of Lewis Capaldi but viewers at home were left puzzled when the Scottish singer's winners speech was muted.

Shortly after taking to the stage to sing his huge number 1 Someone You Loved, Lewis was back to accept the award for Best New Artist after beating Sam Fender, Mabel, Dave and Aitch to take the trophy.

He made his way up to the podium to accept his Brit award, swigging from a bottle but then people watching at home were left clueless as to what he actually said during his short but sweet acceptance speech as the whole thing was muted.

However, people inside the O2 Arena award show revealed what actually happened on Twitter with clips and tweets which revealed Lewis had said: "Thank you very f*****g much. See ya later."

With the broadcast going out on ITV before the 9pm watershed, his comments were censored.

Jack Whitehall didn't look too unimpressed when the camera panned back to him as he said: "I love that man!"

Some of the other early winners on the night included Stormzy for Best British Male and Mabel for Best British Female.
