Lewis Capaldi posts hilarious 'America's Sweetheart' tribute after hitting number one in US Billboard

Lewis Capaldi has posted a hilarious 'America's sweetheart' tribute to his fans across the pond after Someone You loved shot up the US charts to number one.

The 23-year-old Scots singer took to social media to toast the song reaching number one, following a 23-week climb to the top.

The Instragam post show the star, from Whitburn, West Lothian, in full American flag face paint - thanking his fans in the states.

Lewis Capaldi also paid homage to his success in the US with a 'Lewis Capaldi - America's Sweetheart' t shirt.

And he even changed his twitter handle to America's Sweetheart.

Capaldi's hit song making the Billboard Hot 100 in the States makes him the first UK artist to top the US charts with a single from a debut album since Leona Lewis’s Bleeding Love in 2008.

The artist's US breakthrough came on the back of the US leg of his tour which included shows in New York, Boston, Las Vegas and Chicago.
