Lewis Capaldi makes surprise appearance at Edinburgh pub and sings hit single

Tickets to Lewis Capaldi gigs are usually gone in the blink of an eye, so it's rare to see him on stage in Edinburgh.

But folk in a Grassmarket bar had a lucky treat on Saturday night when the 22-year-old singer made a surprise appearance at a gig.

The West Lothian star took to the stage and sang a duet of his hit Someone You Loved with a musician who happened to be playing at the time.

The crowd in Cold Town House were stunned when Lewis got up, taking selfies on his way to the stage, and a huge cheer went up.

Fans were delighted when Lewis got on stage with Jordan (Jordan Murray)

Videos posted on social media show Lewis and singer-songwriter Jordan Murray performing the chart-topping hit as everyone else sings along.

Jordan, who is based in the capital, told Edinburgh Live Lewis had been on a night out when he decided to "gatecrash" the gig.

He said "He was out with his mates and by chance we were playing in the bar and once we started playing a cover of ‘Someone You Loved’ he decided to surprise everyone and join in."

The Cold Town House team said: "It was a great surprise to have Lewis Capaldi join us ‪on Saturday night‬.

"He was in having a few drinks and enjoying the music with his mates when the band played one of his songs and asked him if he’d like to join them on stage, which he did.

"Just like the rest of Scotland, we’re big fans of Lewis so it was an amazing experience! A huge thanks to Lewis for an unforgettable Cold Town House party and we hope to see him again soon."

Lewis' debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent has been on the number one spot for weeks and only recently looks set to drop down.

He recently gained Liam Gallagher as a fan following a spat with his brother Noel.
