Lewis Capaldi made enough money from Spotify streams of one song to buy his £1.6m mansion

We, the people of Glasgow, already feel sort of responsible for helping Lewis Capaldi become the megastar that he is - and it turns out we could actually have a slight claim in securing him his first mansion.

The Bathgate-born singer bought his incredible £1.6 million converted farmhouse on the outskirts of Glasgow back in 2019 after the success of his debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, but a study has shown that he could've bought it off the back of just one of his singles.

His single Before You Go was streamed over 759 million times on Spotify, raking him in revenue of £2.4m, according to Money.co.uk.

The song on its own would've allowed him to pay for his new mansion just through Spotify revenue, leaving him with a spare £800K to spend elsewhere ... on a certain tonic wine, perhaps? We can't help but feel partly responsible for helping him secure his dream home through our endless streaming.

Hard work and relentless touring have certainly paid off for Lewis who went from living with his parents to living in a five-bedroom mansion with its own private island - not bad for a first-time buyer, eh?

We told how his plans to redevelop the mansion were approved last month.

The converted farmhouse already boasts five bedrooms, a luxury estate, stables and a conservatory but Lewis, 24, has developed plans to put his own stamp on it.

Under the plans submitted to the local council, stables at the country estate will be turned into an exercise room, gym and even more bedrooms.

Two single-tier extensions, a media room, home cinema and expanded master bedroom will also be created at the incredible property.

Drawings to accompany the plans show a glass-fronted, open plan lounge and dining room which will be far from the public's view.

The Scottish Beyonce really is living the dream and we're only a *tiny* bit jealous.
