Lewis Capaldi jokes he looks pregnant at Grammys before being mistaken for seat filler

Lewis Capaldi proudly patted his stomach and said: "Six months along.

“I’m in my third trimester.”

The 23-year-old Scots singer brought some self-deprecating British humour to the Grammys, where he vowed to make the most of his time on the red carpet.

“Listen, it’s never going to happen again,” he said, cheerfully, after pulling a variety of poses.

“After this the career is all downhill.”

It’s worth noting that Lewis is on course to claim his second UK No. 1 this week, with Before You Go, and he’s up for four Brit Awards next month.

“We had a good year, right now the song’s doing well - great,” he continued.

“Then the work starts to dry up, the phone doesn’t ring, I’m alone in my apartment with my dog who hates me, Paddy.

“I foresee my career being a tailspin shortly after this.”

After burping his way through another red carpet interview, announcing he’d just eaten a burrito, and taking a selfie while on the toilet, Lewis enjoyed host Alicia Keys performing a rendition of his hit, Someone You Loved, before watching it lose out in the Song of the Year category.

Rubbing salt in the wounds, one guest at the LA ceremony mistook him for a seat filler, a guest whose job it is to fill the seats while celebrity guests are in the toilet or at the bar.

The Brits will go better for Lewis.
