Lewis Capaldi says he is too terrified to go to the supermarket during lockdown over fears he will be mobbed by fans who will ignore social distancing measures to reach him.
The 23-year-old Scottish singer hinted he is anxious about going outside amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as government advice to keep at least two meters from other people is still in place.
The Someone You Loved singer suspects overzealous fans would forget or ignore the rules if they were to spot him among the frozen food and fresh produce aisles.
However, he is able to rely on a close relative to pop to the shops on his behalf – leaving the chart topping star to feel like he is completely cut off from the outside world.
Speaking to The Sun, Lewis said: “I always worry about going to a shop and someone being like, ‘Oh, can we get a picture?’ And I’m like, ‘You have to stay two metres apart!’
Lewis insists his reluctance to go out is in fact to save embarrassment if confronted by fans.
He said: “I don’t want to be that guy, so my dad has been getting (the shopping). I have literally become a hermit.”
A recent documentary about Lewis has shed further light on his relationship with his father.
It was revealed that the singer was something of a “mistake”, as he was conceived after his father had undergone a vasectomy.
Lewis said: “You should’ve seen my dad, he was really sad. My mum was even more sad.
"He was supposed to have had a vasectomy. I was a mistake.”
Lewis’ brother Warren added: “Lewis was just an immaculate conception.
"I remember my dad had a vasectomy and then nine months later we got a surprise with Lewis popping out.”
