Lewis Capaldi in running for coveted Ivor Novello award

West Lothian superstar Lewis Capaldi has been nominated for one of the most prestigious awards in the music business.

The Whitburn star has been shortlisted in the Ivor Novello Awards, which recognise song-writing and composition.

The Brit Awards winner has been nominated in the PRS for Music Most Performed Work category for ‘Before You Go’ and ‘Someone You Loved’.

But he’ll be up against some fierce competition in the form of Harry Styles - nominated for ‘Watermelon Sugar’ and ‘Adore’ and Joel Corry and MNEK’s number one hit ‘Head & Heart’.

All Saints star Shaznay Lewis, an Ivor Novello award winner and chair of The Ivors Awards committee, congratulated all the nominees and said she was “really delighted” that the majority have been shortlisted for the first time.

“Over the last year we’ve felt the power of songwriting and the stories told through music,” she said. “The Ivors are so important because they celebrate where all the music begins - with songwriters and composers.

“The judges have chosen a selection of exceptional music that moves, unites and inspires us.”

Winners will be announced at a ceremony at Grosvenor House in London on September 21.
