Lewis Capaldi has offered an olive branch to Noel Gallagher ahead of his TRNSMT set tonight by suggesting the pair should team up a song together.
Commenting on with the ex-Oasis star, Capaldi said: “He loves a bam up, Noel. I too enjoy a bit of a bam up. I thought it was funny.
“I’d love for me and him to get in there. He doesn’t like co-writes but he can write it and I’ll sing it and I’m sure it will be a lovely one.
“If he is out there and he is listening I love you to bits, Noel. Love you, Noel. That’s my message to Noel. I love you.”
His comments come after a recent spat between the pair in which Gallagher told Variety magazine: “F****** Chewbacca should enjoy his 15 minutes. The greatest day of his life that I slagged him off or called him an idiot. It's the greatest day of his f****** life so far. He's just thinking 'wow'. Well, I know you're Scottish and all that but f****** hell. It is like a third world country but for f***'s sake, man, you must have had a better day than this. Surely."
Capaldi responded by changing his name to Chewis Capaldi on social media and photo-shopping himself as the Star Wars character. The singer also spoke of his surprise as, over the weekend, TRNSMT acts including Stormzy, Richard Ashcroft and The Kooks all gave shout outs to the Scots chart-topper during their main stage sets.
“The Ashcroft thing I just found out about 10 minutes ago so after this I’m going to have to go look and see it because I don’t believe Richard Ashcroft knows who I am. It’s a weird one to comprehend. It’s been so weird. It’s just a mark of how mad my life has got over the last little bit.
“The Stormzy thing was like genuinely emotional to watch because I am a massive Stormzy fan. In Glasgow where I’m from seeing people sing the song back and I wasn’t even in the country at this point. I was in London. I wasn’t in Scotland. It’s spun my nut a bit. I’m sure it’ll all go tits up soon though.”
The singer also revealed he wants Meatloaf to star as him in a biopic of his life.
“Meatloaf. I want him to play me as he is now. No prosthetics. And I want him to play me from childhood to now. He is in his Seventies. I want him to remain a 70-year old man but he is going to transport us all and take our mind on a journey. Meatloaf will give the performance of his life being this wee chubby loser who talks about poo too much and sings pop songs. He gives the performance of his life, he wins Oscars and it’s just incredible and prosthetics ceases to be a thing in motion pictures.”
