Lewis Capaldi has GRITTER called 'Lew-Ice Capaldi' named after him in cheeky tribute to the singer

Lewis Capaldi might be America’s number 1 ... but he’s been brought back down to earth in Scotland after a gritter was named after him.

Transport Scotland have named one of their winter fleet Lew-Ice Capaldi in honour of the West Lothian singer.

The roads group tweeted a picture of the vehicle saying: “@LewisCapaldi might be #AmericasSweetheart but you really know you’ve arrived when @ScotTranserv names a #Gritter after you.”

The gritter is all set to do battle with Scotland’s winter on trunk roads up and down the country.

Transport Scotland and council’s throughout the country started a trend in recent years by giving their gritters funny names.

But Lewis Capaldi isn’t the first Scots singer to have a gritter take his name.

Paisley singer Paolo Nutini was given the nod by his local Renfrewshire Council last year when they named one “Ploughlo Grittini”.

Whitburn boy Calpadi has secured massive success over the last year which peaked this week when he hit the top of the US charts with his Someone You Loved hit.

Festival appearances and a hyped-up row with Oasis star Noel Gallagher have also done no harm to his reputation.
