Lewis Capaldi given go-ahead to revamp £1.6m mansion on outskirts of Glasgow

Lewis Capaldi has been given the go-ahead to develop his new £1.6m Scottish mansion on the outskirts of Glasgow.

The award-winning singer snapped up the property - and accompanying private island - back in 2019 but spent the first lockdown at his parents home in Bathgate.

The converted farmhouse already boasts five bedrooms, a luxury estate, stables and conservatory but Lewis, 24, has developed plans to put his own stamp on it.

Under the plans submitted to the local council, stables at the country estate will be turned into an exercise room, gym and even more bedrooms.

Two single-tier extensions, a media room, home cinema and expanded master bedroom will also be created at the incredible property.

Drawings to accompany the plans show a glass-fronted, open plan lounge and dining room which will be far from the public's view.

Lewis, who is originally from West Lothian, splashed out on the farmhouse after the incredible success of his debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, which saw him break America before returning home for a run of sold-out shows at Glasgow's SSE Hydro.

Planning documents said: "In light of the considerations noted above, it is considered that the proposed development will not result in any adverse impacts.

"In addition, the proposal generally complies with the terms of the Local Development Plan and there are no material considerations that indicate otherwise.

"The proposed external finishes albeit contemporary are considered to complement the character and setting of the traditional building. It is therefore recommended that the application is approved."
