Lewis Capaldi brings home two Brit Awards to West Lothian

Lewis Capaldi has started 2020 as he means to go on by bagging two awards at the Brits.

The Whitburn singer won the Best New Artist award along with the Best British single prize for his hit ‘Someone you Loved’.

And he left fans in stitches with his alternative acceptance speeches which he delivered while swigging beer and Buckfast.

The singer was nominated for four awards in total and was clearly delighted with his wins.

His first acceptance speech appeared to be muted due to his fruity language, but during his second speech after picking up Best British Single, he said: “he said: “Contrary to popular belief, a lot of people think this song is about my ex-girlfriend who you can now see every night on Love Island.

“It was actually about my grandmother who has sadly passed away a few years ago.”

He added: “Thank you so much, this has been the best year of my life.”

This year looks set to follow 2019 for Capaldi, which saw him score the best-selling single and album in the UK.
