Lewis Capaldi boasts about sex life while nervously headlining Isle of Wight festival

Lewis Capaldi has joked about his highly active sex life as he made a nervous appearance at the Isle of Wight festival over the weekend.

The 25-year-old singer was headlining the four day music event on Saturday night where he performed for thousands of fans and festival goers.

However, the singer hinted he was wracked with nerves as he took to the stage for the first time in years – having been out of acton due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The singer admitted he was ’s***ting’ himself over taking to the stage, but had his audience in fits as he made cheeky jokes at his own expense.

According to The Sun on Sunday, Lewis took to the stage and declared: “I’m very rusty at this.

"It’s been a while since I did a gig like this, which is also what I tell every girl I have a one-night stand with. Yes, I have had sex, lots of sex.”

He added: “This is gonna be fun but I’m very nervous. This is the first time I’ve ever headlined a festival and if I f*** it up, it will be the last time.”

It is also reported that Lewis said he had no new music to perform for fans as he had been “too lazy” to write any during lockdown.

At the end of last year, it was reported Lewis had drafted in Ryan Tedder to help him pen new songs for his hotly anticipated second album.

Ryan – who has co-written songs for Adele and Beyonce – gushed at the time: "I was playing the songs an hour ago in the car and it’s just like, goosebumps!"

"The guy could sing a random song in Spanish and it would still give me goosebumps. He’s so good."

Meanwhile, Lewis’s IoW Festival outburst is not the first time he has drawn attention for what he’s said in front of a microphone in recent months.

Last year, he caused controversy when he took to the stage at the Brit awards and launched into a sweaty rant – that left ITV broadcasters hastily reaching for the bleep button.

He greeted fans: "Hello motherf***ers!" before he was hastily muted by the broadcaster as they aired the glitzy event.

The singer was then heard for another section before he quipped: "I'm f***ing s-"

Once again, he was muted and then said: "Sorry, I'm reading off a card here...how is everyone doing? It's great to be here tonight.

"It's just great to be out of the house to be honest," he was then cut off again.

The singer was then heard again as he said: "Let's hope this year is even bigger and better than ever for British music and obviously let's also hope Scotland win at the Euros!"

However, his football comment didn’t go down well as audience members booed the singer over his comment.
